Highway 55 gets two traffic lights north of Eagle

Two traffic signals have come to the countryside on Highway 55 north of Eagle.

Ada County Highway District switched on a new traffic signal June 6 at the entrance to the Avimor subdivision, 11 miles north of State Street.

A second stoplight was due to be turned on June 13 at Beacon Light Road, the north edge of Eagle. Electrical conduits were installed for a traffic signal at the spot 20 years ago, and traffic volume now warrants a stop light, according to an ACHD news release.

The Avimor stop light is a short-term measure until growth of the development warrants a realignment of the intersection with a grade-separated interchange, the release said.

Until now, the last red light on Highway 55 was at Floating Feather Road in Eagle.
