Greener Burke Shoemaker attorneys join Parsons Behle and Latimer

Five Greener Burke Shoemaker PA  attorneys are joining the Boise office of Parsons Behle & Latimer, a Salt Lake City-based law firm.

Greener Burke founders Richard H. Greener, Christopher C. Burke, and Fredric V. Shoemaker, will join Parsons Behle as shareholders, the latter firm said in a prepared statement. Attorneys Jason R. Mau and Slade D. Sokol will join the firm as associates. The change is effective August 1.

Brook Bond

The joining was a “mutual discussion over a substantial period of time, “ said Brook Bond, managing shareholder in the Parsons Behle Boise office. “I can’t say who picked up the phone first.”

Bond said Parsons Behle was particularly interested in the litigation experience of the Greener Burke attorneys, which he said would “broaden and deepen” the experience already present at Parsons Behle. In addition, Greener Burke has a great deal of transactional experience, meaning work with corporate, contract, and patents, as opposed to litigation, he said.

Greener Burke, now housed in the Banner Bank building, will join Parsons Behle in the Zions Bank building in downtown Boise, Bond said.

Because the deal is being characterized as a joining rather than a purchase, no money is changing hands, Bond said.

Parsons Behle previously merged with the Idaho Falls firm of Moffatt Thomas in June. Parsons Behle has offices in Lehi, Utah; Boise; Idaho Falls; Reno, Nevada; and Washington, D.C.

This article was edited on August 2 to correctly characterize the nature of the transaction.
