The new Kuna Post Office will come with some architectural flair.

The U.S. Postal Service announced Aug. 31 it will move its Kuna office into the Freedom Fitness building on Wythe Creek Court. Freedom Fitness, meanwhile, plans to build a new facility on Meridian road near Deer Flat Road.

The postal service describes its existing 2,328-square-foot brick structure built in 1960 as “severely deficient in space for the current operation needs.”

The 7,322-square-foot Freedom Fitness building features curved roofs and angled windows. The new post office will have two retail windows, 636 post office boxes and several parcel lockers for post office box customers to pick up packages without going to the retail counter, Postal Service spokesman Brian Sperry said in a news release.

In the meantime, the Kuna Post Office on Main Street will remain in operation.

The postal service decided to relocate the Kuna office after a community meeting in September.
