New amenities open at Boise Airport

Passengers travelling through the Boise Airport will notice new amenities just past the security checkpoint, the airport recently announced.

These new amenities include a service animal relief area, lactation room and family restroom.

The lactation room is dedicated purely for those who wish to use a private and sanitary environment for nursing and pumping. The room includes a sink for hand washing, changing station and chair. This dedicated room replaces the Mamava lactation pod, which has been relocated to a pre-security location.

The service animal relief area is a pet restroom within the terminal offering four-legged travelers a space to relieve themselves on artificial grass. This eliminates the need for passengers having to exit the terminal and pass through the security checkpoint a second time.

As part of this project, the airport also remodeled the family restroom that is located adjacent to these services. The service animal relief area and lactation room are both required by the FAA for medium hub airports, which the Boise Airport will become later this year. The total construction cost for all three projects was approximately $165,000 and was paid for with airport passenger facility charge funds.

“The Boise Airport understands that our passengers have many different needs when travelling. These additions provide more options for our passengers and assist with our efforts to improve the passenger experience for everyone at the Boise Airport,” Airport Director Rebecca Hupp stated in the announcement.
