HDR Idaho has welcomed Nick McDowell to the Transportation Team as a senior bridge engineer. McDowell has more than 17 years of experience designing a wide variety of bridges both in Idaho and across the country. He has worked on signature bridge projects such as the Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing in New York. His experience includes prestressed girder, steel girder, post-tension substructure, seismic analysis/design/retrofit, dynamic analyses and staged construction analysis for pedestrian, railroad and highway bridges. Such a variety of design experiences enables him to bring a fresh perspective to our Idaho clients and projects. McDowell said he looks forward to supporting the Idaho bridge group, focusing on local clients and mentoring/developing the strongest bridge-group possible. He is an Idaho native, born and raised in Coeur d’Alene and moved to Boise in 2006. He graduated from the University of Idaho with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in civil engineering.
