The newest Flying M will offer its quirky treats across the street from the Indian Creek Plaza, the development taking shape as a new prime attraction for downtown Caldwell.

Flying M Coffeeshop in Caldwell is the latest offspring of Flying M Coffeehouse in downtown Boise and Flying M Coffeegarage in Nampa.

Flying M Coffeeshop will be in the two-story McLeod Building, the 1907 structure at Kimball and Arthur streets that was long known as the Somers Building.

Building owners Bob and Kelli Jenkins have stripped off decades of façade updates to reveal the original look and Flying M Coffeeshop owners Caleb and Tori McKim are stripping layers of flooring and wall coverings away to get to the original brick walls and wood flooring.

“It’s crazy uncovering the different eras,” Caleb McKim said. “You wonder what they were thinking.”

Nampa native McKim has worked at Flying M Coffeegarage since Flying M founders Kevin and Lisa Myers opened it in 2006 and later sold the original Flying M Coffeehouse in Boise. Caldwell had wooed the Myers but they didn’t bite.

“This is something I’d love to do,” said McKim, who has a licensing agreement with the Myers for the Flying M name, recipe and products.

McKim expects to open in early March. Randy Haverfield at Architecture Northwest in Nampa is the architect and McKim is doing the tenant improvements himself.

“I’m really excited about all the revitalization efforts going on over there,” McKim said. “I knew right away I wanted to be a part of it.”
