Title
Curator of Art

Tara Centybear has brought both artistic expertise and curatorial vision to her role at the Boise Art Museum, where she serves as Curator of Art. She recently curated the critically acclaimed exhibition “El Sueño Americano/The American Dream: Photographs by Tom Kiefer,” which opened in late 2024 and explores the humanity of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The exhibition represented her commitment to using art as a platform for important social discussions.

Centybear holds an MFA with distinction from Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a visual artist herself, she explores themes of personal and collective trauma through her evocative masked portraits series “Systemic Erasures,” which examines women’s historical and ongoing erasure through law and policy.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in cities including London, Florence, New York, Chicago, San Diego, Seattle and Portland, bringing a global perspective to Idaho’s premier art institution.
