Gillian Bovard Horn is a doer.
“I said yes to as many opportunities as I could when starting out, even if I felt out of my depth,” she explained. “I was resourceful and unafraid to ask questions.”
This process helped her build a career that she is proud of, working the last six years in nonprofit leadership. For the last year, she’s worked as the development director for Boise Bicycle Project, where she’s led the team through their most successful Idaho Gives Fundraising campaign ever, increasing donations by nearly 40%.
Horn said, “I am committed to creating as many growth opportunities as possible for my team, our organization and the community we serve. The Boise Bicycle Project aims to expand programming to serve more youth and adults in our community, including apprenticeship programs for teens and incarcerated women that will provide pathways to economic empowerment. We are working daily to create safer streets for all Boise residents through advocacy efforts and community-building events that celebrate car-free spaces.”
In the future, Horn and her team are also hoping to install Boise’s first permanent traffic garden, so people of all ages can learn to navigate streets safely on their bikes.
Outside of work, Horn is a dedicated mom. She also loves surrounding herself with creative people and thinking about what “could be.”
“Brainstorming fun community events, finding enthusiastic collaborators and seeing folks enjoy the end result is one of my favorite parts of the jobs I have had in the fundraising space,” she shared.
