Last year, Paul Zurlo, a 30-year veteran of the health care industry, was elected as Blue Cross of Idaho’s new president and CEO. Since then, he has met with members and clients on the road, officially taking the position on Jan. 1, 2024.

“During that time, I have mapped out what I want to accomplish over the next year, ensuring that our mission and members are at the root of everything we do,” he said.

Additionally, Zurlo leverages investments made in communities across Idaho through the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health. These investments can help build a new park or running path or through multiple medical scholarships with Idaho colleges and universities.

Blue Cross of Idaho has invested in provider partners integral to Idaho’s health care system, such as primary care practices.

“Our last goal, to be a destination employer, requires an ongoing investment in our workforce,” Zurlo said. “All employees, from the leadership team to our brand-new employees, contribute to an enterprise-wide effort.”

Zurlo said he is proud to help drive down the cost of care for Idahoans and fortunate to have a provider community that shares the passion for affordability and high-quality care.

“Our value-based care contracts and the cutting-edge predictive analytics data we share with providers have improved our members’ health outcomes and experiences while driving down costs,” he said. “Being with our members at each step of a medical event allows me to stay as close to them as possible. It’s what drives me each day I come to work.”
