Title
Founder and Winemaker

Leslie Preston is the founder and winemaker of Coiled Wines, established in 2008 with the release of their inaugural Syrah and named after Idaho’s Snake River Valley AVA. A Boise native, Preston’s unconventional path to winemaking began while pursuing a PhD in French literature with a focus on 16th century love poetry at University of California, Davis, where her wine program students introduced her to viticulture and enology as a career possibility.

After completing UC Davis’ prestigious Viticulture and Enology program, Preston worked at renowned California wineries including Clos du Bois in Sonoma, Saintsbury and Stags’ Leap Winery in the Napa Valley, where she served as enologist overseeing white wine production. Her commitment to Idaho terroir led to a period of hauling Idaho grapes 600 miles to California for processing before permanently relocating to Boise in 2012.

Preston operates from her Garden City production facility and tasting room, with an additional downtown Boise location on Bannock Street.
