Congratulations are in order for a number of local entrepreneurs who have recently opened or expanded franchise businesses in Idaho. These owners and operators approach entrepreneurship with the goal of serving their local communities and making a positive impact on the people they serve. All three ventures are currently open and ready for business.
Business owner Karli Gloria has taken over ownership of the Clean Juice store in Boise. This is Karli Gloria’s first business, and with the support of her husband Ben, is fulfilling a lifelong dream of business ownership.
“We are so proud to have Clean Juice as part of our family, and it was something we talked about for years as we worked hard, saved money and held to our vision,” said Karli and Ben Gloria in an announcement. “We complement each other in every way possible and share a grinder mentality when it comes to achieving our goals. Although a milestone in our lives, this is one step more toward building the life we both share in our hearts and dreams.”
Karli Gloria is a former athlete and dance instructor. She values her health and is mindful about how the food she consumes affects her body, mind and spirit. Clean Juice provides healthy and all-organic wraps, salads, cold-press juices, acai bowls and more. Karli Gloria said she is proud to bring healthy food options to her community. The Glorias said they are already looking towards the future and are making plans to open Idaho’s second Clean Juice location. Clean Juice is operating out of over 200 stores throughout 33 states.

While Karli and Ben Gloria are bringing healthy food options to the people in their community, Travis Hyde, a resident of Meridian, is bringing healthy food options to the pets of his community with Pet Wants. This is the franchise’s first location in the state of Idaho. Pet Wants provides pet food made with fresh, natural ingredients delivered directly to the doors of its customers. Hyde grew up working in his grandfather’s veterinary clinic and helped raise race horses and hunting dogs with his family. He’s had a love for both animals and nutrition his whole life, working as a veterinarian himself and for 20 years in child nutrition.
“I’ve maintained a passion for animals my whole life,” Hyde stated. “I am an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and I have 10 dogs that I hunt with. When one of my dogs started having skin issues, I was struggling to find the right food and diet that would help her. That is when I came across Pet Wants about a year ago.”
Hyde has grown his business over the past year by participating in local marketing and networking events, and hopes to someday open a brick-and-mortar location. His favorite part about the business is the impact it has on his community.
“These are people who are buying products for their beloved pets, and it is really helping with their nutrition and health,” he said. “I very rarely run into a customer who isn’t smiling from ear-to-ear. It is the most positive environment, and being able to be a part of it every day is such a blessing.”
Pet Wants plans to have over 200 units open by 2024 and is currently seeking more franchisees like Hyde to help with its expansion.
Tom Sellin is opening his third Batteries Plus location in the Treasure Valley and is providing electronic services to residents. Sellin opened his first Batteries Plus location in Boise nearly 20 years ago and has a second location in Nampa. His third location is now open in Meridian. Batteries Plus provides customers with various types of batteries, chargers and generators. It also does automotive battery testing and installation, and battery testing and repair for most phones, key fobs, laptops and tablets.
“Batteries Plus of Meridian will meet the need for those that need immediate repair for devices, quality products in-stock and same-day services,” Sellin stated. “Our local team will be there to help provide a memorable experience that is readily accessible to residents, local businesses and more to meet their demand for a quick and efficient shopping experience, conveniently located in their neighborhood.”
Throughout the pandemic, Sellin’s Batteries Plus locations in Boise and Nampa remained open to help people keep essential electronics operating. Medical devices like hearing aids, infusion pumps and monitors all require service and repairs. Sellin and the entire Batteries Plus team made sure Treasure Valley residents had access to solutions. Batteries Plus was founded in 1988 and is the nation’s largest battery, lightbulb and smartphone/tablet repair company.
