As an economic development director and consultant for 25 years, Jan Rogers’ efforts working with regional partners have resulted in more than $1 billion in economic development and more than 5,000 jobs have been created. She worked for 14 years building Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization (SIEDO) and in January 2022, she was asked to step in as the interim director to help refocus and restructure the organization.
Rogers said she’s excited about the future of southern Idaho and this year alone, there will be three new businesses opening their doors. She said that SIEDO is leading a state delegation to the U.S. Department of Commerce SelectUSA Summit in Washington, D.C., and recently, they represented Idaho in Paris at a Business France event called “Doing Business in the U.S.”
“I am exceptionally proud of these accomplishments and opportunities created for Southern Idaho in such a short period of time,” she explained. “Southern Idaho and SIEDO are back with so much more to come. We have basically re-booted SIEDO from the ground up. Communities are reengaging. Funding sources are more secure. Marketing efforts have been reinstated. And, most importantly, we have been aggressive and successful in generating economic development back to Southern Idaho.”
Looking ahead, Rogers hopes to expand marketing and social media efforts, reach out to industries that may be a good fit for business expansion to southern Idaho, and help to further solidify business and opportunities in the region. She is also working on a transition plan that will include bringing on a deputy director that will further SIEDO’s mission and growth.
