Powerlist – Katie Fernandez – Owner – Lee’s Candies

Lee’s Candies has been a part of the Boise tradition for decades and Katie Fernandez, owner of the company for the last nearly four years, shared that it’s something special.
“It means something to people,” she said. “I don’t think I realized how special it was until I had been in this position for a couple of months. I am truly grateful to the Nokleby family for allowing me to take part in the legacy of Lee’s Candies.”
She shared that she had little knowledge of the chocolate industry when she began at Lee’s and was fortunate to learn from the previous owner. She continues to learn new things every day, which she said is a fun challenge, and under her leadership, she has helped take the company to new heights. Soon, a second Lee’s Candies location will open in downtown Boise, two blocks from the original location.
“My biggest goal right now is to make our second location as successful as our location at Vista Village,” Fernandez said. “The potential for success is definitely there, and we cannot wait to see it grow and succeed. Of course, it is always a goal to grow our current location. There are a lot of new people moving into town who have never had the privilege of trying our handmade chocolates.
One of my goals from the beginning has been to make Lee’s Candies part of their tradition, as it has been for so many Boise families for so many years.”
