Powerlist – Randy Schlemmer – Owner/President – Precision Communications (“PreCom”)

Specializing in low-voltage, structured communications cabling, Precision Communications is a specialty electrical “digital infrastructure” construction company that Owner and President Randy Schlemmer acquired from the founders in August 2019.

Located in Meridian, PreCom serves the Treasure Valley, Eastern and Northern Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Schlemmer migrated to Boise in the Fall of 2018 and immediately began developing a network of personal and professional connections in the Treasure Valley. Through that new network of connections, he learned that the founders of PreCom were planning to retire and were searching for someone to take over the stewardship and maintain the company’s legacy that they had built over the previous 25 years. Schlemmer worked out an acquisition deal with them and now leads the talented and well-respected organization.

“The most significant accomplishment over the past 12 to 18 months for the PreCom team and me was solidifying the renewal of our service contract with the City of Boise, including the Boise Airport, for another five years,” Schlemmer said. “In the next year, I hope to increase the size of our crew of experienced, certified technicians.”

The biggest challenge in the years since Schlemmer took over the company’s ownership was doing whatever he could to help keep field technicians and office staff healthy throughout the peak of the COVID pandemic and keep projects moving forward to timely completion.

“The behind-the-scenes work that we do facilitates the flow of information between the people and throughout the facilities of the public-sector and private-sector organizations that we serve across Idaho and beyond,” he said.
