After graduating with an undergraduate degree in university studies with an emphasis on nuclear facility management and a Master of Public Administration degree in U.S. naval nuclear power training, Vince Bowen began work as the executive director of the Energy Systems Technology Center (ESTEC) for Idaho State University. He has worked there for more than five years and said that his most significant professional accomplishment recently was purchasing and installing a full-sized NuScale Small Modular Reactor Simulator.
“My goals for the upcoming year are to develop a Semiconductor Technician Program and complete the expansions and moves for the current ESTEC programs,” he said.
The work he is doing has benefited Idaho through the creation of highly trained and sought-after technicians that can work across the state and beyond and for Bowen, that is an honor.
“If I couldn’t work in education, I would be working in facilitating nuclear energy research,” he said.
