Serving the Treasure Valley since 1985, Hendrickson’s Fine Jewelry has established its reputation as the experts in jewelry. Dean Hendrickson founded the shop along with Wally and Donna Hendrickson, and Dean is still at the helm, along with his wife Sarah, running a thriving business that employs 12 full-time people (five of which are related) and four part-time individuals, who are grandkids.

Dean first became interested in jewelry as a child, when his parents gave him his first kit at the age of 11.

“He fell in love with the artistry of it,” said Sarah Eshelman-Hendrickson, co-owner at the store. “Opening a store was a big deal, but when your passion calls, you respond.”

Hendrickson’s Fine Jewelry does a lot of custom designs, some of which are in the showcase for sale, and others for specific customers. The store also has the largest selection of laboratory grown diamonds in stock in the valley, and they also sell a variety of natural diamonds. Last year, the company helped more than 4,000 customers with their jewelry designs, repairs and purchases.

“If you can dream it, we can make it happen,” said Eshelman-Hendrickson. “We are down to earth and make it fun to buy jewelry in a relaxed atmosphere.”

When asked what makes the company unique, Eshelman-Hendrickson said that it’s their focus on attentive customer service and providing a laid-back environment.

“High pressure is not our thing,” she explained. “Our environment is relaxed and cheerful. We do not pay by commission so there is not any competition. Everyone wants to help you because we enjoy what we do.”

Eshelman-Hendrickson said that growth has been up and down over the years but having dedicated employees has been the key to the company’s longevity.

She said, “We work really hard at Hendrickson’s — there isn’t slack time, we are running from open to close. We have been blessed to find employees that are dedicated and love their job. Finding those types of employees is not an easy task.”

To commemorate four decades of operations, the company hosted a 40th anniversary party on July 19.

Beyond that, the future continues to look sparkly and bright for Hendrickson’s Fine Jewelry. When Dean and Sarah retire, they plan to pass the business to Bryce

Hendrickson and Angela Barker (their son and daughter), who will take the reins and keep things growing.

“We love making people smile,” Eshelman-Hendrickson said. “We love our job and to show our friends and new clients that fact.”
