IDAHO BUSINESS REVIEW
Construction of an IHOP Restaurant is planned in the Karcher Crossing development in Nampa, on the north side of Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard in front of Lowe’s.
Interwest Construction, of North Salt Lake City, plans to consider subcontractor and materials bids April 15, an announcement in the April 5 Intermountain Contractor said.
Spokesman Patrick Lenow said IHOP, which stands for International House of Pancakes, plans a 5,000-square-foot building that will seat 176.
In choosing sites for new restaurants, IHOP studies individual markets and key intersections with respect to the total number of nearby residents, the number of families with children, the presence of large employers nearby, “and of course high-traffic generators - Lowe’s, etc.”
IHOP will be close to Lowe’s, which opened in January; Home Depot, slated to open soon on North Cassia Street near Edwards Cinemas; Karcher Mall; and a Costco Wholesale store to be built next year in a 75-acre retail center planned north of Interstate 84 and Karcher Road, east of Midland Boulevard.
The Nampa IHOP site is immediately east of a Bank of America branch under construction, said Mark Schlag of Thornton Oliver Keller Commercial Real Estate, which is marketing Karcher Crossing. An Arby’s restaurant is planned just east of the IHOP site by year’s end, said Cliff Marcum, an agent with J.L Boyd Co. in Boise, representing Arby’s.
IHOP has not set a construction start date or opening date, Lenow said. IHOP franchisee Stanley Wong will operate the Nampa restaurant. He also operates IHOP restaurants in Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
