The 104-room Inn at 500 Capitol boutique hotel proposal passed through its first round of preliminary city approvals on April 8. The City of Boise Planning & Zoning Commission’s Design Review Committee recommended approval of Obie Development Partners’ $25 million proposal for the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street.

The Eugene, Ore.-based developer tentatively plans a late summer 2015 groundbreaking with hopes to have the seven-story hotel finished by December 2016.

“The approval of our design is indicative of the thoughtfulness and consideration that went into this project,” said Brian Obie, president of Obie Development Partners and a former mayor of Eugene, Ore. “We feel strongly that The Inn at 500 Capitol will be an integral part of the Boise community and a coveted destination for visitors.”

Boise architecture firm CSHQA, whose offices are four blocks from the Inn at 500 Capitol site, is designing the hotel.
