Micron Technology, Inc., is being sued by a Chinese company alleging patent infringement.

In court documents filed Nov. 9 with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC) alleged Micron has infringed on eight of its patents.

YMTC stated that lawsuit is related to “infringement of our company’s patents related to the design, manufacture and operation of 3D NAND technology,” the company said in statement to Reuters news agency.

Boise-based Micron manufactures and sells dynamic random-access memory chips. The Chinese company stated that Micron hasn’t paid for the use of its inventions, which YMTC said Micron used to gain and protect market share.

According to media reports, China banned companies from buying Micron’s products citing national security risks, while YMTC was blacklisted by the U.S. from buying certain American components and restrictions have been increased on chipmaking technology exports to China, as well, also citing security reasons.

A representative with Micron stated that the company does not comment on pending litigation when reached for comment.
