A major food distribution company celebrated the grand opening of a distribution center on May 3.

Marshfield, Wisconsin-based Nelson-Jameson opened facility in Jerome, making it the company’s fifth U.S. distribution center. The facility was “built to support its year-over-year growth and strategic reach across the country,” the company stated.

The 45,000-square-foot will also be able to support more than 1,000 vendors and 78,000 curated products, it stated, and encompasses approximately 1.5 million cubic feet of storage, offices, refrigerated storage and service and maintenance spaces.

“[The distribution center’s] sustainable design includes architecturally embedded energy-saving features, such as insulated concrete tilt wall panels, LED lighting and occupancy sensors, high-efficiency HVAC systems and electronically controlled warehouse ventilation,” a release stated. “This execution is in accordance with the company’s environmental goals to reduce its carbon footprint and advance sustainability within the broader food processing center.”

Nelson-Jameson expressed appreciation to the Jerome and Magic Valley communities for their support and sponsorship, “and the company is proud to be contributing to the economic growth in the region.”

The fourth generation-owned company, which has been operating for more than 75 years, represents more than 850 vendors and distributes more than 60,000 products, it stated. Companywide, Nelson-Jameson employs more than 260 people, including its distribution centers in California, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Texas.
