Private Building - First Place - Hidden Paradise Medical Camp

Three key areas were focused on for the project at Camp Rainbow Gold: The Med Shack, the amphitheater and the cabin village.
For the Med Shack, Blue Cross of Idaho donated $2.1 million for the construction of the 3,500-square-foot building which is used for the care of campers, who are children battling cancer.
The amphitheater features 200-seats and wheelchair-accessibility, cross-laminated timber benches with custom metal brackets and a hand-painted mural depicting the surrounding mountains and prairie.
Six new cabins were build for the village, each 1,155 square feet, with two bathrooms, two showers, granite countertops, heat and air conditioning and the ability to separate each cabin into two separate cabins.
Many challenges occurred during the project, such as the remote area having limited cell service. That made it hard for crews to coordinate delivery of construction materials. Having been a golf course prior to its new life as a kids’ camp, the property needed its antiquated infrastructure replaced.
Thanks to the generosity of Blue Cross of Idaho, Anderson Construction, Blackrock Homes, Alturas Homes, Core Building Company and James Clyde Homes, discounted and donated work helped to move the project along quickly. Project coordinators also cited the generosity of Chuck Graves, co-owner of McAlvain Companies, who is battling cancer himself.
He oversaw the project from the beginning completely free of charge.
The project also saw more than 50% of in-kind donations.
