Costco is recalling a bakery item after discovering a packaging error that could pose a serious health risk to people with certain food allergies.
According to a recall notice, Mini Beignets filled with caramel were mistakenly packaged as Mini Beignets filled with Chocolate Hazelnut. As a result, the products contain undeclared tree nuts — hazelnut (also listed as filbert).
Costco said consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to hazelnuts or filberts could experience a serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. Customers are urged to return the item to any Costco store for a full refund.
The mislabeled products were distributed between Jan. 16 and Jan. 30, 2026, in the following states:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington.
Costco apologized for the inconvenience caused by the recall and advised customers with questions to visit customerservice.costco.com.
