WeVorce raises $1.7 million, moves headquarters

WeVorce, a technology startup aimed at helping amicable divorce proceedings, announced Nov. 21 that it raised a $1.7 million seed round from investors including Foundation Capital and Sam Altman. The company, which started in Boise and has offices west of downtown, is now headquartered in San Mateo.

The company announced the move to San Mateo from San Francisco on Nov. 21, as well as new offices for potential clients in San Francisco, Oakland and Palo Alto, Calif., and Seattle, bringing the company to nine offices.

WeVorce uses “divorce architects,” mediators with law degrees and training from WeVorce, to help couples through divorce with legal, emotional and financial advice and support.

Founder and CEO Michelle Crosby said in a news release that the funding will help with growth in both online and in-office services. She said the company is training mediators as quickly as possible.
