EGT Solar, headquartered in Meridian, was recently lauded by Solar Power World as a 2025 Top Solar Contractor, making it the ninth year in a row to have been named to the list.

According to EGT, 2024 was “the largest single year of new capacity added to the grid by any energy technology in over two decades.” The local company installed 2,008 kilowatts of solar power last year, and has installed a total of 32,000 kilowatts since it began operating in 2009. The company has a staff of 28 employees.

“As electrification accelerates — driven by the growing adoption of technologies like — the demand for reliable, efficient energy solutions continues to rise,” said Dan Bennett, director of sales at EGT Solar. “We … we focus on educating customers about energy behavior and usage. By helping users apply technology and smart programming based on their actual consumption patterns, we empower them to maximize efficiency and keep utility costs low.”

Last year, the U.S. saw the installation of nearly 50 gigawatts of solar capacity, EGT pointed out. And solar making up 84% of all new electric generating capacity.

Despite cuts at the federal level, the industry is getting ready to face possible challenges, said Kelsey Misbrener, managing director of Solar Power World.

“At a time when the federal government is doing everything it can to cut solar power down, the gigawatts put up by our 2025 emphasize just how crucial it is to our nation’s energy mix,” Misbrener said. “From the smallest residential projects to the largest utility-scale solar farms, these installations are keeping the lights on and keeping power affordable. We’re thrilled to recognize another outstanding class of Top Solar Contractors, and look forward to persevering through legislative hurdles to celebrate our 15-year edition next year.”

EGT Solar was ranked at 292 on the list of 401 contractors. Quanta Services of Texas landed first on the list with more than 10 million kilowatts installed in 2024.
