Sun Valley announces nonstop winter flights to 8 cities

The Fly Sun Valley Alliance, in partnership with Sun Valley Resort and Friedman Memorial Airport, has announced the airline flight schedule for the 2026-27 winter season, which will offer daily nonstop flights to eight cities, with additional frequency on the Denver and Seattle routes.

The schedule includes nonstop service to Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Salt Lake City.

American Airlines, which began operations at Friedman Memorial Airport last winter, will offer daily nonstop service from Phoenix and Chicago beginning Dec. 17, with both routes running daily through April 5. Starting in December, American will use the Embraer E175 aircraft, which officials said will improve reliability for travelers.

Delta Air Lines, which serves Sun Valley year-round, will offer three daily nonstop flights from Salt Lake City, plus nonstop flights from Seattle and Los Angeles daily from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3 and on Saturdays from Jan. 9 through March 27.

United Airlines will expand its daily year-round nonstop service from Denver to two flights daily from Dec. 17 through April 30, and will offer daily nonstop flights from Chicago from Dec. 17 through March 27. United’s nonstop flights to Los Angeles will run one to two times daily from Dec. 1 through March 27, and its nonstop San Francisco flights will run one to two times daily from Dec. 17 through March 27.

Alaska Airlines, which flies nonstop from Seattle, will offer one to two daily flights from Nov. 1 through April 13, and four weekly flights from April 14 through 30. Alaska will also offer nonstop flights to San Diego two to three times per week from Dec. 18 through March 28.

American, Alaska, Delta and United have scheduled all Sun Valley flights with the Embraer E175 aircraft. Over the past five years, E175 flights at the airport have averaged a 98% completion rate, which officials said means fewer diversions and delays, and more predictable travel planning for travelers.

“This winter our local residents and visitors will have excellent flight options with nonstop service to eight major cities and one stop connectivity to over 300 domestic and international destinations from our small but efficient and reliable airport,” said Carol Waller, executive director of the Fly Sun Valley Alliance.
