The unemployment rate in Idaho is currently at 3.7%, having slowly crept up since the post-pandemic low of 2.7% in March 2022. In Kootenai County, the most recent data shows the unemployment rate at 4.6%.
A hiring event held by the Idaho Department of Labor Post Falls office will be held to connect jobseekers with employers looking to fill various positions on Sept. 17.
The event, which will be held at the IDOL Post Falls office at 600 N. Thornton Street, will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, and will host more than 30 employers in need of workers.
Among the businesses looking to hire, according to the department, are Ace Industrial Supply, Buck Knives, Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Equus Workforce Solutions, All Ways Caring HomeCare, Hilton and many others. A complete list of those hiring can be found on the department’s calendar.
Positions run the gamut from dental assistants and sales representatives to electricians, agents and many others, and jobseekers in need of interview tips can those and other advice at labor.idaho.gov/publications.
The Department of Labor stated that attending job fairs and other hiring events counts as one weekly search action for the purposes of unemployment insurance claims.
