Rosauers Supermarkets is giving its Moscow store a $1.5 million upgrade to nearly triple the size of its natural foods section and expand the deli dining area with windows and a fireplace.

Spokane, Wash.-based Rosauers is about halfway through the construction that will expand the store’s footprint about 1,200 square feet to nearly 50,000 square feet, said Mike Shirts, the company’s executive vice president.

Moscow will be the 16th of the chain’s 22 stores in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana to get a full-sized Huckleberry’s Natural Market section, expanding Huckleberry’s from 2,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet.

“This is going to make it one of the biggest natural-organics sections (among Rosauers stores),” Shirts said.

Huckleberry’s market will see an expansion of its freezer, refrigerated section, and dry goods. The bulk food offerings will double with more than 100 new items, Shirts said.

The deli dining are now is in an enclosed are with no window. The expansion will double its size and add a fireplace and windows, he said.

The Moscow store will also double its beer options and add a growler station, he said.

Work started in April with completion expected in August.
