The state’s legal hotshots are taking the spotlight for the Idaho Business Review’s 2018 Leaders in Law program.
Past award winners, plus one representing the University of Idaho College of Law, cast their ballots to determine this year’s honorees. Applicants were scored on four dimensions – leadership in their profession, achievements, volunteer work and leadership in the community.
In the end, 17 achievers were selected in eight categories: Associate, Educator, In-House Counsel, Lifetime Achievement, Partner, Sole Practitioner, Unsung Hero and Up-and-Coming Lawyer.
The Lifetime Achievement distinction is given to one person who has demonstrated a track record of success in the legal field. This year, the honor goes to Roy Eiguren, who has held lofty positions in Idaho since 1973, including deputy secretary of state, deputy attorney general and partner at a number of firms. Currently, he leads Eiguren Ellis Public Policy, which helps clients navigate Idaho’s state government and advocate for their issues.
“Roy is an exceptional lawyer and lobbyist,” John McCreedy, president and CEO of The Amalgamated Sugar Company, wrote in his letter of recommendation. “He is always well prepared; he has a keen understanding of the federal and state legislative and regulatory process; and he has consistently delivered outstanding results for our business.”
The 2018 Leaders in Law will be profiled in a publication included with the Idaho Business Review on Nov. 16. The University of Idaho College of Law is the presenting sponsor.
