The Idaho Fish and Game Morrison Knudsen Nature Center offers a free experience for anyone looking to get a glimpse of the biodiversity that can be seen throughout the state of Idaho. The Nature Center offers a variety of crafted ecosystems designed to showcase the diversity of Idaho’s flora and fauna. High desert, wetland and alpine environments are just a few of the crafted experiences that are on display, all of which seek to showcase Idaho’s remarkable outdoor habitats in a cage-free environment.

The 4.6-acre park is open every day from sunrise to sunset and features a variety of animals including minks, beavers, sturgeon, salmon and a whole host of bird species. Those wishing to get a closer look at the animals present at the Nature Center can do so through Shelter and Alpine Lake Viewing windows, which allow for a “fish-eye” view of Idaho’s marine life.

Due to the Nature Center being open year-round, the time in which you go will determine the wildlife that you see. In the spring and summer months, for example, guests will be able to see the butterfly and hummingbird garden. Those who visit in the fall can see the center’s fish spawning habitat and, if they’re lucky, bear witness to the spawning of some of Idaho’s famous Chinook Salmon. Other wildlife, such as the Nature Center’s beavers, can be seen at any point in the year.

So, no matter what time of year guests decide to visit, they are bound to have a unique and enriching experience surrounded by a remarkably diverse wildlife environment.
