Biz 'Bite:' The Ada County housing market in one graph

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words, give or take a few hundred. The graph here is from Boise Regional Realtors and is based on data from the Intermountain Multiple Listing Service. The two decades of data shows the housing boom of 2007-2008, which was modest in Treasure Valley. The graph shows the most notable metric affecting increases in home prices, which have tripled since 2016, and that is the steady decline in single-family home inventory. While inventory has recovered somewhat from values during the winters of 2021 and 2022, it is still half of what was available on the market in 2007, before the housing bubble popped nationally.
