Rast to serve as first-ever COO for Canyon County

The Canyon County Board of County Commissioners has announced the appointment of Greg Rast as the first-ever chief operating officer for Canyon County. Rast has served as the county’s chief information officer/IT director since 2015. While leading the department, he was instrumental in overhauling the Information Technology Department through project management and leadership driven by customer service. He has participated in multiple countywide efforts with great success while building positive relationships throughout Canyon County. Rast also helped establish complete mailroom and print shop services that have provided significant cost savings to taxpayers. He will transition into his new role over the next couple of weeks. The commissioners said in a joint statement that due to the tremendous growth the county has experienced over the past several years, they felt this position could provide some much-needed stability and continuity to the Board of County Commissioners’ Office moving forward. Rast said he is excited for the opportunity to work with elected officials, department administrators, county employees and other municipalities to establish the position and bring new taxpayer services and transparency of open government.
