Saint Alphonsus has appointed a new CEO to oversee day-to-day operations of its rehab center in Boise.

John “Joe” Griffin has been named chief executive officer of Saint Alphonsus Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. He took on the role last month at the Encompass Health affiliate facility.

Encompass Health owns 159 hospitals in 37 states and the territory of Puerto Rico, providing rehabilitative care for patients recovering from major injuries and illnesses.

With nearly two decades of experience behind him, leadership expressed confidence in Griffin’s abilities in his new position.

“Joe brings a wealth of leadership experience to his role that makes him a great fit to serve as CEO at Saint Alphonsus Regional Hospital,” said Kimberly Steward, president of Encompass Health’s West region, in a statement. “I am confident in his leadership vision and that the hospital will continue to provide exceptional care to the community under his leadership.”

Before taking the helm of the hospital, Griffin was the chief financial officer at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Round Rock in Texas. Previous to that role, he provided financial and business development expertise as a management consultant at The Healthcare Store for seven years to the company’s leadership team.

Griffin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
