One Idaho company is preparing to acquire another, expanding to 35 locations.
Fruitland-based Woodgrain is acquiring Boise-based Trimco Millwork to increase its national footprint in the West. The deal is scheduled to close in December.
Woodgrain was founded in 1954 in Utah by Bud Dame, naming the company Dame Lumber and Moulding. It since moved headquarters to Oregon and then eventually settled in Fruitland, Idaho, just across the border from Ontario.
Trimco, owned by the Hoff Companies, is a wholesale distributor of building products such as moulding, exterior and interior doors and other items. It has three locations throughout Boise, one in Salt Lake City and one in Denver.
Hoff Companies began in 1910 by Hans Hoff and his son Theodore with a sawmill in McCall, expanding in partnerships with other mills throughout Idaho and Oregon over the decades. Trimco Millwork was established in 1983.
“We at Woodgrain have admired Trimco for many years and acknowledge the Hoff family legacy and are proud to continue that legacy as a family-owned company,” said Kelly Dame, president and chief executive officer of Woodgrain. “We believe that we will be better together.”
In addition to its U.S. locations, Woodgrain has operations in Chile as well. It has 45 manufacturing and warehouse facilities in the U.S. and South America.
“Our aligned values and Woodgrain’s respected reputation played a pivotal role in this decision, but another paramount consideration was ensuring that this would be a good fit for all the Trimco associates,” said Brian Hoff, CEO of Hoff Companies, in a statement.
Todd Dame, president of Woodgrain’s distribution, stated that “Trimco’s products align perfectly with our distribution strategy and we look forward to a seamless integration.”
