There is an opportunity to get away from the desk and improve your health and the health of the community. And every mile run helps make a difference in Boise and the surrounding area.
Celebrating the uniqueness and beauty of the Boise Greenbelt while helping to support the community is the aim of the Boise Greenbelt Relays. Dubbed the “ONLY” relay race in the Treasure Valley, this year’s race is slated for May 9 at Ann Morrison Park.
Sponsored by Boise Running Race Management, the group classifies the relay a “visually stunning event along one of Boise’s most iconic trails, with incredible community energy from start to finish.”
Launched in 2022, the relays cover the full 45-mile loop of the Boise River Greenbelt. the event has helped raise more than $43,000 to help assist local groups including Ridge to Rivers, BORAH High School JROTC, The Bogus Basin Nordic Team and the Boys and Girls Club of Canyon County.
“Our team is passionate about building community and delivering a world-class experience through our Treasure Valley races,” the group’s website states. The group’s mission is to create high-quality races that give back.
Relay participants will have the opportunity to pass through some of Boise’s most beloved parks and green spaces such as Reid Merrill Park and Lucky Peak’s Sandy Point.
Solo runners and teams of two, four or six through seven are eligible to participate in the run, considered a “full-on community celebration” of the Boise Greenbelt, according to a press release.
The event will run between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and feature an array of local vendors, including Meridian’s Loose Screw Beer Co., Tatia’s Tacos and Pizza Piou.
