A twice-weekly, nonstop service between the Gem State and the Golden State has just been added to an airline servicing Boise Airport.
Avelo Airlines will begin service between Boise and the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport on May 2. Flights will occur on Thursdays and Sundays, with one-way introductory fares starting at $62.
It is the second destination Avelo offers from Boise to California, with the first being twice-weekly connections to the Hollywood Burbank Airport on Mondays and Fridays, which began in May of 2022.
“We have been encouraged by the positive reception Avelo has received in Boise and are excited to add this second popular California destination,” said Andrew Levy, chairman and chief executive officer of Avelo. “With the addition of this exclusive nonstop service, getting to the Bay Area and California wine country is now more affordable and easier than ever for travelers in southwest Idaho. This new route will also make getting from the Bay Area and Sonoma County to Boise a faster and smoother experience.”
The plane being used for the route is a Boeing Next Generation 737.
Avelo began operations on April 28, 2021, having flown more than 4 million customers on more than 30,000 flights since, the airline reported. It now serves 48 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico.
According to the airline, all of its “flights are nonstop, and on almost every route at least one airport is a small, easy-to-use airport.”
“We’re thrilled to see Avelo announce new nonstop summer service to Sonoma County, California, starting this May,” said Rebecca Hupp, director of Boise Airport. “Sonoma offers an unmatched weekend getaway, from renowned wineries to stunning redwood forests — and we’re excited to share them with our passengers.”
