As president and CEO for the United Way of Treasure Valley, Megan Remaley’s philosophy is that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. During her time in her previous position as the director of community impact, she led a team to secure $46 million in Department of Education grant funding to ensure the Community School Strategy can be built across the state in rural Idaho.

Because of her leadership, she has also helped findhelpidaho.org to better connect community members with the resources they need. She has also played a key role in partnering with Western Idaho Community Health Collaborative to help synchronize and integrate regional community health assessments so a plan can be made to address the community’s greatest needs.

“I take seriously the opportunity to mobilize the caring power of our community to advance the education, health and financial stability of every person,” she said. “I’m committed to moving this vision for our community from hope to reality.”

Remaley shared that she finds inspiration from her late mother who was a fierce advocate for children.

“Her tenacity, humor and strong will drove her to raise her voice for what she cared most about — kids,” she explained. “She became an integral part of building a community of support for so many children. After her passing last year from breast cancer, I had the joy of learning of all the lives she touched. Their stories highlighted that by playing a positive role in the life of a child, everyone can make infinite impact.”

In a letter of recommendation for Remaley, Shawn Reilly shared, “Megan’s ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build strong community partnerships is truly commendable. She has brought together an array of government and nonprofit organizations as well as individuals to address pressing issues and drive positive change in the region and state. Her inclusive approach ensures that voices from all backgrounds are heard and valued in the decision-making process.”

Terri Garabedian shared that Remaley shows unwavering dedication and compassion for individuals who are struggling.

“Megan’s goal is always to help people meet their greatest potential and forge ways to help them live a more equitable life,” Garabedian. “Megan enlightens, motivates, educates and inspires every one of us to help others in our community thrive.”

Away from work, Remaley has previous experience working as an executive committee member for the Western Idaho Community Health Collaborative. She is also a dedicated mother and shared that motherhood has been the greatest privilege of her life and has helped her strive to use the fullness of who she is.

“In my daily actions I think about my son and other young people dreaming up tomorrow’s solutions, envisioning themselves as our next great leaders, and am committed to creating a world where everyone’s voices are known and valued,” she said. “I am committed to being a part of their community of support.”
