As the vice president of development a strategy at Heritage Health, Allisha R. Rutherford began her career at Kootenai Health, where she worked from 2001 to 2018. Her transition to Heritage Health in 2018 marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career, one filled with significant accomplishments and transformative initiatives.
One of Rutherford’s most notable achievements was implementing a new electronic medical record system for her entire company, a project that revolutionized patient care and streamlined operations. She also played a crucial role in developing and opening the first nurse practitioner residency program to help address the growing need for specialized health care professionals.
“I never give up,” Rutherford emphasized. “I believe in our community and know the power of a strong team is the key to our future. We are stronger together.”
Her leadership skills have been recognized in various roles, including her tenure on the Project Management Institute Inland Northwest (PMIINW) Board, where she served as vice president of operations, vice president of finance, president and past president.
Rutherford’s commitment to community service is evident in her volunteer work with Hospice of North Idaho. She is also a graduate of the Rivercity Leadership program and a recipient of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve award.
With a bachelor’s degree in business administration-BBA healthcare from Western Governors University, Rutherford brings a solid educational foundation to her role. She combines this knowledge with a passion for continuous learning and innovation.
“By engaging in continuous learning and staying abreast of industry trends, I strive to bring innovative solutions that make a real difference in the lives of patients and providers,” Rutherford said.
A key figure in the future of health care in Idaho, Rutherford continues to make an impact at Heritage Health as well as health care facilities around the state with her innovative spirit and enthusiasm for continued education. She has led Heritage Health in many significant projects in the past two years, including the nurse practitioner residency program, efficient care program and most recently the Center for Healthy Living building project.
“Her passion for leadership, commitment to the professional development of others and her focus on a person-centered culture make her an incredible asset to Heritage Health,” said Pam Houser, vice president of community relations for Heritage Health. “She is respected amongst her peers, our employees and community members.”
Rutherford has also participated in and volunteered for her children’s education, health care committees, nonprofit boards and local leadership programs. A Lean Six Sigma-certified professional with project management professional certification, she has also completed more than 50 half marathons and six full marathons.
“My experiences have taught me the importance of personalized solutions and trust-based relationships,” Rutherford said. “Whether advocating for the best interests of patients or exploring new technologies, I am committed to being a catalyst for positive change in the health care industry. This philosophy guides my daily interactions and long-term objectives, as I work tirelessly to provide exceptional service and contribute meaningfully to the health care community.”
