For 15 years, one Idaho-based convenience store chain has worked to raise funds that benefit a nonprofit in the state. This year’s total will help provide 172,000 meals.
Stinker Stores raised $57,500 in its latest Stomp Out Hunger campaign to benefit The Idaho Foodbank with a goal to feed as many facing food insecurity as possible.
“Stinker strives to be a bright spot in our communities,” said Steve Cook, district manager for the chain. “The Stomp Out Hunger campaign has been a fantastic pathway to help make that possible.”
During the campaign, store employees would ask customers to make a donation at the point of sale. Cook said the company’s founders always helped to inspire the philanthropic mission of Stinker.
“Charley and Nancy Jones have always been the fire that lights the way with this campaign by sharing how blessed they were with having such Stinkin’ amazing employees and customers throughout Idaho and are delighted in continuing our partnership with The Idaho Foodbank in supporting the work to help Idahoans who are in need.”
Store No. 32 in Boise was raised the most funds during the campaign, bringing in $1,700 in donations, the store reported.
“We are grateful for the support from Stinker Store employees and customers,” said Randy Ford, president and CEO of The Idaho Foodbank. “This community engagement is key to our work to help Idahoans facing food insecurity.”
The foodbank urges anyone in need of food assistance to visit the nonprofit’s food assistance locator at its website. https://idahofoodbank.org/getfood/
