Uschi De Rose has come to be known as a mission-driven leader with more than 30 years of experience in her career. Originally hailing from Belgium, De Rose studied business management and translation and interpreting at the Lessius Hogeschool before moving to the United States. “At age 12 in Belgium, [I] set a long-term goal to move to the U.S.,” De Rose said. “[I] pursued a focused path through translation and interpretation, and achieved that dream through persistence, planning and commitment.”
De Rose’s career began with her building a multimillion-dollar international division for Hydrabaths, Inc., from 1992 to 2001. “[I] launched and scaled an international division from the ground up in regions with significant gender inequity.” De Rose noted. By 2004, De Rose had led Hydrabaths to successful entry into the Asian business Market. “[I] overcame cultural and gender barriers by learning Mandarin, which enabled effective negotiation and relationship building,” De Rose said. “It allowed the organization I worked for at the time to thrive in a challenging market.”
De Rose’s work didn’t end there. She went on to serve as vice president of operations with Southern California Produce and as campus manager with Heritage Oak Private Education before she and her family moved to Boise.
In 2012, De Rose’s career with Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council began. She started as a retail operations manager, but quickly rose through the ranks, working in several positions including membership development manager and senior manager of volunteer experience. And in 2022, De Rose stepped into her current role as director of membership and data for Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council.
As director, she is responsible for a large segment of council operations which includes the development and implementation of council-wide membership strategy and the immigration of data systems to help enhance the organization’s outreach efforts. She also provides mentoring to both staff and volunteers, in particular to the team of Membership Managers, who provide further support to volunteers and families.
“I’ve always believed in investing in the next generation, especially girls. Girl Scouts has been a lifelong passion of mine, not just as an organization but as a movement that builds strong, capable women who go on to lead, to serve and to shape the world,” De Rose shared. “That belief in building strong foundations led me to become a certified instructor of Youth Mental Health First Aid. Teaching parents and volunteers how to recognize the early signs of mental health challenges in young people, and how to respond with care and confidence, is some of the most meaningful work I do.”
“I lead with heart and grit,” De Rose said. “I’ve learned to use my voice not just to push forward, but to lift others up, especially young people who need someone to believe in them, to be an anchor for those who need stability and support along their journey.”
