At Soiltech Wireless, founder and CEO Ehsan Soltan is focused on solving real-world con-straints in agriculture. In the past five years since launch, the company has deployed thousands of sensors across the United States and internationally, and now serves hundreds of farmers, agron-omists and enterprise partners.

“I am focused on ensuring the team is constantly thinking about how they can deliver for the people we serve: America’s farmers,” Soltan explained. “Our competitiveness is grounded in understanding the needs of our customers and innovating for their benefit.”

Outside of the groundbreaking work that Soiltech is doing, Soltan and his team stay busy as members of the Idaho Technology Council, and they are long-term supporters of Trailhead and Boise Entrepreneur Week. Soltan also mentors younger entrepreneurs, supports agri-cultural education initiatives, and contributes to discussions around rural economic devel-opment and technology access.

As for what steps that Soltan takes to be a better leader and better person, he shares that it starts with listening to other people.

“I seek candid feedback from people I trust, carve out time every day to reflect, and routine-ly seek out opportunities to learn from leaders outside my industry,” he explained. “I work hard to model steadiness, as teams take emotional cues from their leader, especially in difficult moments. Years of wins and setbacks have taught me to keep an even keel and fo-cus on the long game. Most importantly, my wife and our two daughters keep me focused and intentional about how I show up as a husband and father. They are my daily reminder of what truly matters and my greatest source of perspective and motivation.”

In nomination materials, Steve Frinsko spoke of Soltan’s entrepreneurial spirit and creativi-ty, but also his love for the people behind each successful farm. He said, “It was Soltan’s deep and continuing connection to the farmers that enabled him to understand the farm-ers’ needs and adapt Soiltech’s products to best serve them.”

Looking ahead, Soiltech’s growth trajectory continues at a steady pace, as it’s increasingly integrating into the data backbone for the world’s largest processors and retailers.

Soltan reflected on the work he and his company are doing in the Gem State saying, “Build-ing in Idaho is all about the community and I’d like to think the nomination is a reflection of our commitment to contribute meaningfully locally — through collaboration, job creation and a shared belief that Idaho is one of the best places in the country to grow a business.”
