Erin Anderson

With a leadership style rooted in clarity, trust and shared purpose, she believes that the best decisions are made by the people closest to the work and aims to empower staff to lead within their departments and teams. Under her guidance, the Idaho Botanical Garden em-ploys more than 40 full-time and part-time staff with more than 500 volunteers.

Anderson said, “My vision for the Idaho Botanical Garden is for it to be both a beloved space and a resilient, forward-thinking organization. The Garden is more than a place of beauty; it’s an essential community gathering space that supports education, conserva-tion, cultural connection and community wellbeing. That belief shapes how we make deci-sions every day, from programming and staffing to long-term capital investments.”

In her role, Anderson has proven her strength and resilience in leading through various ups and downs. To do this, she’s focused on scenario planning and identifying clear priorities, while focusing on communication with staff and the board.

“I’ve worked closely with staff and the board to align resources tightly with our mission, di-versify revenue, strengthen reserves and continue making thoughtful investments, even during challenging periods. This approach allows us to stay nimble.”

Bobbi-Joe Meuleman, president and CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce shared in a letter of recommendation, “Beyond her strategic vision, Erin leads with integrity, energy and commitment to results. She is engaged in the economic life of Boise, support-ing initiatives that create opportunities while staying rooted in her mission-driven values. Her ability to bring diverse stakeholders together and identify innovative solutions has left a lasting impact on both the nonprofit and business communities.”

Outside of her job, Anderson serves on the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and is also the president and co-founder of the Idaho Arts and Culture Alliance. In addition, she’s the chair of the Executive Garden Leaders group for the American Public Garden Association and has previous leadership experience with the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation and others.

Anderson has big plans for IBG. This year, in partnership with other organizations, she is helping lead the organization through a $15 million capital campaign 10-acre expansion project, which will include a flexible outdoor performance venue that meets the needs of performing arts groups. Plans also include the creation of a permanent, year-round home for the Boise Farmers Market.
