Alaska Airlines to start daily nonstop Boise-Honolulu flights this December

Alaska Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Boise and Honolulu on Dec. 17, making it the only carrier to offer a direct connection between Boise and Hawaii.

The seasonal service, operated on a Boeing 737 MAX, runs through March 21. Flights depart Boise at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 2:20 p.m. The return flight departs Honolulu at 12:42 p.m. and arrives in Boise at 9:45 p.m.

“We’re excited that Alaska Airlines will offer daily nonstop service to Honolulu,” said Kathleen Watkins, interim director of the Boise Airport. “Hawaii is consistently one of our passengers’ most requested destinations, and we’re thrilled to see this highly anticipated route become a reality.”

Alaska Airlines, which merged with Hawaiian Airlines, is also launching seasonal nonstop service between Spokane and Honolulu beginning Dec. 19, operating Saturdays through April 17. That route also uses a Boeing 737 MAX.

The expansions are part of a broader seasonal network adjustment by the combined Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines will also add three weekly flights between Honolulu and Las Vegas during peak holiday and spring break periods, increasing that route from three to four daily flights on an Airbus A330. As part of the realignment, Hawaiian will not resume its three-times-weekly seasonal Honolulu-Auckland service.

Combined with increased California flying, the company said Hawaii seasonal capacity will grow 3% year over year and up to 6% during peak holiday periods.
