A leader in Idaho’s technology scene is moving on to vaster digital pastures.
Jay Larsen, the founder and chief executive officer of the Idaho Technology Council, has submitted his resignation after 15 years and will be take a job with Facebook’s parent company Meta.
Larsen will be the local representative for Meta, in which he will focus on community engagement and collaboration. His last day with the ITC will be Dec. 9.
“It is bittersweet to leave the ITC, but I am confident in the council’s continued success under new leadership,” he said. “I am especially proud of the strong network of stakeholders we have built, including government officials, industry leaders and our valued technology members.”
According to a release from the ITC, the organization has successfully implemented several initiatives that helped to move the tech industry forward. It has fostered strategic partnerships, advocated for policy changes and positioned itself as a “significant voice within Idaho’s technology landscape.”
ITC Board Chair Reid Stephan said the organization was appreciative of all Larsen’s contributions to the technology sector.
“I extend my deep gratitude for his leadership and development of the ITC over the past 15 years, and I wish him the best in his new role with Meta,” Stephan said. “I am supremely confident that the ITC ecosystem across the state is robust and poised to support this transition. While there wouldn’t be an ITC without Jay, there will unquestionably be an ITC after Jay, in large part because of the foundation he helped lay.”
The ITC stated it will begin a search for the new CEO to replace Larsen and “lead the organization into its next chapter. The board expresses confidence in selecting a capable individual to build upon the council’s achievements under Mr. Larsen’s leadership.”
