The Emporium plans to close its four clothing stores in the Treasure Valley.

The Eugene, Ore.-based retailer said in a statement that it will close Boise stores at Overland and Five Mile roads and in Northgate Shopping Center on West State Street, the 70,000-square-foot store in Nampa’s Karcher Mall, and its store in Ontario, Ore.

Emporium filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December, but parent Troutman Co. could not secure a new financing package or sell the stores.

Troutman now plans to liquidate the Emporium stores, and seek bids for stores and leases. After it awards the bids in late February, it will liquidate the stores over two to three months.

Emporium employs about 1,600 at 34 stores in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and California. Dallas Troutman opened the first store in North Bend, Ore., in 1955.

The company would not say how many Treasure Valley employees would be affected.
