The J.R. Simplot Co. AgriBusiness Group plans to relocate its downtown Boise headquarters from 8th Street Marketplace to One Capital Center, which houses Simplot corporate headquarters.

The Simplot group, which manufactures and distributes agricultural fertilizers as well as turf and horticulture products, was moved from Pocatello to Boise in 1999.

It employs 95 in 8th Street Marketplace, off Capitol Boulevard, where its lease expires in November.

Simplot spokesman Fred Zerza said the AgriBusiness Group will occupy the entire third floor and part of the second floor of One Capital Center, 10th and Main streets. He expects the move to occur in phases from Oct. 25 to Nov. 8.

The third floor was not available previously, and by occupying it, “we will gain efficiencies in the administrative services area,” he said. “This also is consistent with our efforts to better integrate the company and improve the way we conduct business both internally and externally.”

J.R. Simplot Co. has a 20 percent ownership interest in the 14-story building. Simplot occupies all of the 12th, 13th and 14th floors, and about 90 percent of the second floor. The company will employ just over 300 there when the AgriBusiness Group takes occupancy.

Wells Fargo Bank occupies the third floor now, but plans to move to the adjacent Wells Fargo Center, said Jeremy Malone, senior property manager with Oppenheimer Development, which manages both buildings.

One Capital Center has been fully occupied for about three years.

At 8th Street Marketplace, which the Simplot family’s S-Sixteen LP sold to BoDo Partners at the end of 2002, a major redevelopment project is planned.
