Firehouse Subs will open several restaurants throughout the Treasure Valley.

The Florida-based chain will open its first restaurant in Idaho at 1569 N. Milwaukee Road in Boise this summer. The space, which totals 1,826 square feet, was formerly occupied by a Blockbuster Video, but has been vacant for some time. Tenant improvements will begin shortly and will include seating for 50 people, said Firehouse Subs President and Owner Justin May.

“We wanted to be located in a high-visibility area and will be at the second busiest intersection in Idaho,” May said.

Andrea Nilson, of Cushman & Wakefield Commerce, worked with May to secure the location near the mall area.

“When national retailers and restaurants enter a new market, they generally look toward the mall area because of its high traffic and visibility,” Nilson said.

Another restaurant is planned in Meridian, with a total of six scheduled to open in the next three years. The chain has 525 locations in 35 states. Its name represents the firefighters who originally started the chain, which continues to support the Public Safety Foundation, an organization that helps support first responders.
