Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest is building a new retail store in Post Falls.
In the process, the Goodwill presence in Post Falls will move from downtown to its growing northeast neighborhoods at state Route 41 and 16th Avenue.
“We found a wonderful 3-acre parcel right on the highway,” said Clark Brekke, CEO of the Spokane-based nonprofit. “The good news for us is we’re going to be more visible for donation drop offs. Neighborhood growth is certainly growing that way.”

The new $3 million, 23,000-square-foot store replaces a 6,000-square-foot store on Seltice Way. Retail floor area will increase from 4,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet, Brekke said.
The Route 41 location will also have a 5,000-square-foot warehouse, enabling Goodwill to keep seasonal clothing in Idaho rather than shuttle it back and forth to Spokane, he said.
Goodwill has four stores in northern Idaho in Post Falls, Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene and Lewiston. In all, Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest has 13 stores.
The new Post Falls store is the sixth one the Inland Northwest group has built from the ground up, the fifth since 2000. All the 21st century stores were designed by Wolfe Architectural Group of Spokane. Baker Construction & Development Inc. of Spokane is the general contractor.
Construction started in June and Brekke hopes to open no later than Feb. 15.
