When the ZoomCare network of on-demand clinics announced its reentry to the Treasure Valley market last year, announcing it would open two new clinics, the business did not drag its feet. The Meridian clinic opened in February and the Boise clinic opened on July 7.

The Boise clinic is located at 1129 S. Broadway, at the Beacon St. light, across the street from Albertsons and kitty-corner from the Jiffy Lube. The new ZoomCare is in a one-story standalone building with an attractive modern façade of perforated metal panel siding with the firm’s signature bright-blue signature and accents.

The clinic will be open seven days a week, every day of the year, with extended business hours. ZoomCare’s business approach is to provide on-demand no-wait appointments with medical professionals for primary, urgent and preventive care services. The clinic will have on-site lab services and in-house prescriptions, enabling patients to leave the clinic with medications in-hand. ZoomCare also offers telehealth appointments.

ZoomCare business model

ZoomCare’s business model is different from many other care providers. For customers with or without insurance, all services are flat-rate, according to a published schedule of fees on the company’s website. The company’s medical services are covered by many insurance providers servicing Idaho. The portion of fees not covered by insurance are estimated at the time of a patient appointment and are due at the end of the patient visit. ZoomCare does not accept cash or checks. The company also does not accept Medicaid, Medicare or Medicare Advantage.

This is ZoomCare’s second foray into the doc-in-a-box care market in Idaho. The firm had two clinics in Meridian and Boise, open from 2012 to 2014, operating on the same business model the company still uses today. Despite customer reviews still extant on the internet, the company closed its Idaho clinics because they did not meet revenue and profit targets.

The company announced it reentry into Idaho and its expansion into the Denver, Colorado, market at the same time last October. Prior to moving into Idaho and Colorado, the company’s main market area was focused on the I-5 corridor in Washington and Oregon, including Salem, Eugene, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.
