New president of Boise medical center has extensive background in health care

A medical professional with an extensive background in health care throughout the U.S. and most recently in California, has been chosen to lead a major medical center in the Treasure Valley.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center had a new president take the helm. Nat’e Guyton, who was previously the chief operating officer for CommonSpirit Health-California Medical Center, began her role on Jan. 27.

According to a release, “Guyton holds a Doctor in Management with a concentration in organization development from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in Nursing Education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University. She also earned a Post Master’s certificate in Healthcare Administration from Villanova University and a Post Master’s certificate in Healthcare Informatics from Drexel University.”

In her previous position, she had an integral role in the construction of a 145,000-square-foot facility dedicated to women’s services, emergency services and trauma services. The project had a price tag of $243 million.

“Nat’e is a dynamic, innovative and creative leader who brings more than 25 years of health care experience to this important leadership role in our community,” said Dave McFadyen, president and CEO of Trinity Health West Region, which is the parent organization for Saint Alphonsus. “She is a champion for nonprofit, faith-based health care with a focus on creating high-performing organizations.”

Guyton said that her grandmother inspired her to approach her career in health care the way that she has.

“My grandmother raised me while serving as a unit clerk in Philadelphia. She filled that important role for 46 years,” she said. “I watched up close her dedication to both her family and the patients she served, and I carry that spirit close to me today.”

The new president of the medical center has been married to her husband, Sean, for more than 20 years, and the couple have two sons. Being “avid football fans,” the family has cheered on the Boise State Broncos for some time and look forward to doing so in person.

“I am passionate about being an advocate for community-based health care and health equity, and building relationships inside the organization to make that happen,” Guyton said.
