CEO of Influence – Rollin Hansen – 208.properties

Rollin Hansen, a United States Navy veteran who served for eight years, grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, but has put down roots in Idaho. For the last nine years, he has worked as the CEO and founding partner for 208.properties. He said that two key principles that he learned in the military have helped him soar to success in this current role: Embracing discomfort as a catalyst for growth and genuinely caring for individuals beyond the workplace.

“Adaptability is essential in both life and work, and fostering a supportive environment naturally builds commitment and accountability,” Hansen shared. “Many I’ve led have expressed they’d never experienced such encouragement before, reinforcing my belief that leadership is about providing guidance and support — while empowering others to take their own steps toward success.”

Hansen said that there wasn’t a single moment when he realized he was a leader. Instead, it was something that happened naturally.

“Leadership, for me, has always been about growth, impact and fostering a shared mission,” he shared.

At 208.properties, he is honored to work alongside a team that is positively impacting Idaho communities and the property management industry.

“The field often carries a negative reputation, so we built a model centered on transparency, accountability and opportunity for both homeowners and residents,” Hansen explained.

The company’s Home Buyers Program helps renters transition to homeownership, which helps change lives in the valley, and they also provide advisory services to help investors grow their portfolios.

“Most importantly, our human-centered approach prioritizes empathy and financial understanding, keeping evictions below a total of 10 since 2016,” he said. “Every day, we strive to help people thrive and create lasting solutions for housing stability and financial growth.”

Hansen believes effective leadership is about fostering both individual and collective achievement and recalled an important nugget of advice that one of his mentors shared with him early on in his career: “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.”

He said, “That mindset has elevated my career, networking and leadership approach. I constantly seek knowledge from those with experience and expertise. This philosophy also influences how I hire — I want team members who challenge and surpass expectations. Investing in people not only enriches their lives but also strengthens mine, fostering continuous growth and success.”

Hansen’s advice for others: Find your passion and find a way to monetize it while providing real value.

“Success requires sacrifice, discipline and the right mindset,” he stated.

When he’s not in the office, Hansen is an avid outdoorsman and loves to ski and snowboard. He also enjoys spending time with his kids and likes playing golf, calling it his go-to for stress relief.
